Asian street food in Sydney
The Night Noodle Markets is back in Sydney again this year with a very yummy looking line up
To avoid the crowds, we got there nice and early at 4pm and walked around to see what was on offer. The shops are nicely spread all over Hyde Park with plenty of tables to sit down and indulge.
Our first stop was Mr Bao. We got ourselves two Gua Baos for $15. The Crackling Pork Belly Bao had a nice amount of pork belly meat in Hoisin sauce with a big piece of crackling on top. The Karage Chicken Bao had big pieces of Karage chicken on pickled red cabbage with spicy aioli. Both were very beautifully made and tastes just as good as it looks.
We then went to Bao Stop to try their Peking Duck Fries for $15. It was very nice and the duck was perfectly cooked, I just wished they gave us a bit more sauce or at least sprinkled some salt on the fries.
The last stop for us was Gelato Messina. I got the Matcha Do About Nothing for $10. I actually enjoyed the White Chocolate and Pistachio crunch more than the gelato itself, it was heaven.
The Night Noodle Markets is such a well organised event. It is cash free and all the shops were using Commonwealth Bank’s ‘Albert’ to accept payments. This made the entire operation so efficient. All shops, especially the more popular ones had a well thought out system of taking and delivering orders. The line at Gelato Messina was easily 20 metres long when we joined but we didn’t have to wait long before it was our turn to order, so well done to the organisers.
We will definitely be back in a few days to try the other shops.
