For some strange reason, burgers have been a main part of my diet for about two months or so now. Lunch or dinner, I would focus my attention on getting a burger. It didn’t matter what kind of burger or where I got it from, as long as it was a burger, I was happy.
This particular time we went to Newtown for a couple of drinks at Kuleto’s then we walked over to Big Daddy’s Burger Bar later for dinner.
We arrived at about 9pm and the place wasn’t busy. The red and white themed interior gives you that American diner style feel with booths to give you some privacy while you eat. The walls also had some interesting retro style signs to entertain you while you wait for your food.
I went over to the counter and ordered a ‘Say My Name’ burger, a side of curly fries and a can of A&W Root Beer.
I gotta say, the burger was a bit too saucy for me. The sauce overpowered the rest of the ingredients and the burger started to fall apart after the bread got soggy from the sauce. It was a shame because I really liked the taste of the mushrooms and onion rings on the burger. I couldn’t comment on the pattie because I simply couldn’t taste it due to the sauce.
Big Daddy’s Burger Bar has potential and there is definitely room for improvement. They have a nice venue conveniently located near other pubs and bars. It’s a nice place to come and get a late night burger after a few drinks but not a place you would bring a date.
Having said that, I would still like to come back and try their other burgers. Maybe something more basic with less sauce. I also would like to try out their fried chicken as well as their milkshakes. But it won’t be anytime soon.
